The Personal Data Protection Act 2010 came into force on 15 November 2013 and in essence seeks to regulate the processing of personal data of individuals involved in a commercial transaction setting by data users.

The National Wages Consultative Council Bill 2011 was tabled in Dewan Rakyat to protect the interests of workers. Under the proposed Act, employers will be liable to a fine of not more than RM10, 000 for each employee if they fail to comply with the minimum wage requirement.
